What Is Chiropractic

As our way of thinking about health care shifts away from short-term relief, and towards preventing health issues and achieving long-term wellness for our families, more and more people are now choosing Chiropractic care as their primary health care choice. So much so that it is now the third largest primary health care profession in the western world, next to medicine and dentistry. Chiropractic continues to be a safe, natural, drug-free, and effective approach to health care.

Chiropractic care is more than just helping sore backs, sore necks and headaches. These symptoms (Aches and pains) are signs that your body is not working correctly. To find the cause of the problem, for many years, Chiropractic has focused on the relationship between your spine and nervous system (the brain, spinal cord, and nerves exiting the spine) and how that relationship affects tissue repair, health function and well-being.

Your nervous system has many functions, including co-ordinating and controlling millions of nerve signals in the body. Another function your nervous system has is to maintain an equilibrium, or balance, within your body’s cells, tissues, and organs. When your body and mind are under too much stress (physical, chemical, emotional), it limits how well your nervous system functions. Over time stress continues to accumulate within the body, eventually creating imbalances, and symptoms. Your chiropractor is trained to examine, analyze, and correct these imbalances within the spine, by adjusting any joints that have lost their proper position. An adjustment is a carefully controlled and directed force used to restore proper spinal function, reducing stress on your spine, and therefore, facilitating your body’s ability to heal.

A healthy spine and nervous system, working at its very best, can help anyone at any time in their life; regardless of age, condition, presence or absence of disease, or obvious symptoms. Chiropractic care is a method of helping to ensure optimal joint function, and nerve communication, and is therefore able to effectively assist the body in healing a wide array of symptoms and conditions.

Chiropractic is Safe. It’s Natural.
It Works!

What to expect

As you enter Forward Chiropractors you will be welcomed by Dr Richard Pinto or Dr Sundhya Pinto. You will be shown to your seat and given paperwork to fill out (one page). Our paperwork is very important for your chiropractic health care as it provides us with your full health history. This way we can assess your overall health as a whole, rather than focusing on part of it.

First Visit: (45mins-1hr)
Since your nervous system controls every cell and organ in your body, and is responsible for your current and future health, it is essential we obtain a full, comprehensive health history. We will also perform a complete physical exam outlining your skeletal, muscular, neurological, and spinal function. You will also receive your first adjustment on this visit, depending on our findings. If our examination reveals the need for further tests (i.e. Xrays, Specialists, etc.) this can be arranged.

Second Visit: (20-30mins)
Your second visit is just as important as your first as this visit is used as a follow-up appointment, allowing the Chiropractor to assess the changes your body has made after your first adjustment. At this time your Chiropractor will also explain the findings from your physical exam, what impact this may be causing or may cause on your future health. We will also provide you with the most appropriate and efficient schedule of care for you and your path towards greater health and quality of life.

Third Visit: (10-15mins)
We are now getting a sense of how your body responds to care. This visit continues to help establish the changes within your body. Each visit from now takes a shorter amount of time but is just as important, as each visit builds on the one before.
